HAIR TALK

When I walked past some school children around my area, who attend a government owned secondary school near my area, I noticed that the girls wearing their hair in a low cut. My interaction with some teachers in some of the schools that does not allow their female students make/plait their hair, said that making of this girls hair distract them from their studies.
I went to a secondary school that allowed only the senior students to make their hair, and our WAEC result was always among the best in the country. I can not understand why at this time and age most government owned school and missionary schools will not encourage our girls to make and take care of their hair.
A woman's hair is her glory, many in the natural hair community have attested to the confidence they get wearing their own hair. So at the stage a young girl is becoming aware of how special her body is, a principal tells her to cut her hair, which is one part of her body that enhances her beauty. I think Nigerian government owned schools should encourage this children to grow out their hair and take care of it.
Well this is my thought, if you agree with me, please share so that it gets to the relevant bodies or persons.

Thanksgiving

There are so many things to be thankful for, look around you, despite the many things seeking your attention, there is always something to be thankful for.
Today, I am thankful for my family, for my health, (last weak, I was very sick but I am okay now). I am thankful for my friends, neighbours, and even for situations that has prompted me to seek the face of God.
I AM THANKFUL TODAY FOR EVERYTHING!
Have a happy Sunday,

Making the most of every situation

Today I remembered why I loved Christmas. It was a time I traveled to my village to meet my extended family. The joy of seeing all my cousins, the love I feel when I see my Dad and his siblings eating from one plate and relishing my grandmother's Okro soup, the bewilderment I feel whenever I watch my grandmother remove hot pots from the charcoal stove with her bare hand, the comfort I feel when we have to crowd my grand mother's room because every one wants to sleep with her on the same bed, the early morning palm wine, my grandfather makes available as we all sit together around a camp fire.

It was all love, peace, and celebration. This is always what I know as Christmas, I looked forward to it all the time.

Times have change, things are different now, my grandparents are no more, my Mum and other women married into the family, see hatred in each other. They see witches and wizards around them. My Dad's sisters are busy suggesting marring many wives for their brothers while they remain the only wives of their husbands.

Despite all these I like to remember the good old days; so I made this beautiful soup, as I enjoy my meal, I could only see happy faces and I feel great joy in me.
Enjoy
